Start with armor that has high damage reduction. Ideally chest and leg pieces should have 4 categories of damage mitigation. Armor maximization is a must to make your defense strong. Max Health is another useful statistic since it increases Overpower's health as well as its damage.

Take up stats that fit your style of play for the remaining two slots. If you tend to cause bleeding among enemies then put priority on bleed reduction. Though, do not waste materials pursuing perfect rolls - go for what suits you best at this time. The item power of armor isn't so much important but note that life attributes on armor can scale with item power up to some point.

↖ Helmets: The Flexible Slot

Helmets offer flexibility in choosing statistics. Aim for Max Life, Cooldown Reduction and Total Armor until you acquire a unique helmet which fits into your build. Since there are many options available, Skill Rank could be chosen as fourth stat where skill ranks like Death Blow or resistances could be used during leveling up for more chances of survival. Alternatively Main Stat can provide extra damage output.

For gloves, the formula is consistent across all classes: Crit Chance, Attack Speed, skill ranks for abilities like Upheaval or Whirlwind, and Main Stat (Strength). Some players may prefer Overpower over Strength; nonetheless Strength offers a balanced boost in both armor and damages.

Boots are a powerful defensive slot where you can stack your resistances against enemy attacks.. For most builds, aim at three resistances plus Movement Speed. Though it is possible to get Damage Reduction While Injured, it is more efficient to avoid taking any damage.

↖ Weapons: Your Primary Damage Dealers

When it comes to weapons, Strength should be your top priority as it offers multiplicative damage and armor benefits. Another important stat is Damage While Berserking since this stat synergizes with Blood Rage. The next stats should align with your build's requirements - All Stat for versatility or specific damage types like Close or Core. Weapon type selection is build-dependent; however, swords and maces are generally favorable.

Remember that the item power on your primary attack weapon is crucial as it directly affects weapon DPS, which in turn scales all other damage multipliers.

↖ Rings: Doubling Down on Stats

Your rings should be duplicates of each other most of the time. All you need here is Crit Chance and Resource Regeneration. Rings that can enhance your survivability while increasing Fury levels include Max Life and Max Fury among others. Resists should also be considered when deciding on what rings to wear for balanced defense.

While most Barbarian builds eventually utilize unique amulets, during leveling, Cooldown Reduction is a must-have stat. Other beneficial stats include Damage Reduction and a passive that complements your build. Please mind that formerly Fury Cost Reduction was essential but today almost all builds need more spending rather than saving fury!
