Rules of Diablo 4: Never Break These to Stay in Favor
Welcome to the world of Diablo 4, where the unwritten rules can be just as important as the written ones. Whether you're a seasoned demon slayer or a rookie Necromancer, following these guidelines will mean the difference between surviving and thriving in Sanctuary. Here are five cardinal rules you should never break if you don't want to incur Lilith's wrath or the ire of your fellow adventurers.
- 1. Never Skip Lilith Altars
- 2. Upgrade Your Healing Potion
- 3. Dormant Elixir = Lost XP
- 4. Revive Fallen Players
- 5. Idling in Town Doesn't Give XP
↖ 1. Never Skip Lilith Altars
As you explore different regions in Sanctuary, you'll come across statues dedicated to Lilith. Activating and interacting with these altars grants a permanent boost to one of your primary attributes - and this benefit carries over all your characters. You'll gain the advantage later on when playing another character and they have that edge from earlier levels. Keep in mind that this doesn't apply when switching between Hardcore and normal modes; in those cases, each character needs to rediscover them.
↖ 2. Upgrade Your Healing Potion
Throughout Diablo 4, you'll have an opportunity to enhance your healing potion at certain progression milestones through an alchemist. When there's an upgrade available for purchase, a clear indicator (an upward arrow) will be shown on the potion icon itself. Your healing strength depends on it – if you fail to enchance it earlier on then every time you pick up a new potion it'll be weaker than what it could've been.
↖ 3. Dormant Elixir = Lost XP
There are plenty of ways for maxing out experience points (XP). This includes partying up for group bonuses or using specific abilities that boost your output damage that consequentially maximizes XP farming potential.. One way players may overlook is by not activating elixirs though. These potions offer benefits such as improved evasion or elemental resistances plus a 5% bonus to earned XP while active.. Some elixirs can be crafted early on with materials like Strangleweed and Gnashberries. And there's no need to fret about them because they're fairly easy and quick to create.
↖ 4. Revive Fallen Players
Picture this: you're doing an event and getting destroyed by mobs, and eventually succumbing to their relentless assault. Dying means respawning and you have to pay gold for repairs-unless someone resurrects you. In the game's files, we can see that when a player is revived it doesn't cost them any durability on their gear so it comes back as if nothing happened. If you happen across another player's gravestone, click on it once or twice before moving on with your quest so they don't have any repair costs.
↖ 5. Idling in Town Doesn't Give XP
While it's important to manage inventory or craft potions, spending time away from combat is time not spent gaining XP - especially in group play. Be considerate of your teammates by minimizing downtime in town since every second spent petting dogs or sorting through chests is a second without XP gains for everyone involved.
