Diablo 4 Season 3 Evernight Cooldown Dynamics Strategies
Diablo 4's Season 3 is full of new strategies and mechanics for players to try out. One of the most interesting things this season is the Evernight Glyph and its interaction with cooldowns. Specifically, what happens to skills that already have a big reduction at rank 1.

↖ What does Evernight do?
Evernight is a unique glyph acquired from Malus that many players equip with fast-attack skills like Tempest. It only has a two second uptime but allows you to keep your buff if you continue hitting enemies. But how does it affect your cooldowns? Let's test it out!
↖ How do we test Evernight's cooldown interaction?
To see if Evernight works with cooldowns, we are going to run two tests:
Test 1:
- Activate Evernight
- Use a skill with a cooldown.
- See if the expected amount of time is taken off
Test 2:
- Allow the ever night buff to expire
- Use a skill and take note of its time without the passive.
- Then activate Evernight's passive and observe whether or not it adjusts mid timer
↖ Results from testing
Although our hands-on results are straightforward, they give us enough information needed:
The good news is that Evernight does work with cooldown reduction! The lower number you get when you trigger your skill while ever night is up IS indeed shorter!
The bad news however is that if you start your skill without having ever night activated, then it triggers...it will NOT reduce your current cool down timer.
↖ Tips for using ever night in combat
- Time your skills correctly: If possible make sure you use them right after activating the glyph
- Don't worry about keeping still: You can move on to the next enemy group as long as you started your ability during ever nights uptime...the timer stays reduced regardless of the ability afterward.
↖ Conclusion
Evernight has become an extremely useful tool in managing cooldowns since the release of Diablo 4 Season 3. As long as you know how it interacts with skills, you should be able to optimize your gameplay by using your cooldowns at exactly the right time.
